ASTOR COMMUNITY THEATRE EXHIBITION, Deal, MAY 2015

These paintings have been created for the Astor Bar.  The large high wall spaces spoke to me of drama – the fabulous superlative of opera and the visceral thrill of theatre.  And so I created works inspired by:

3 Operas: The Magic Flute by Mozart; Tosca & La Bohème by Puccini

2 Plays by Shakespeare: Antony and Cleopatra & Hamlet.

The starting point for each work, and indeed for all my work, is colour.  Through the colours, a series of images appear and float as if in a performance.

My background is in Art History and I have a BA Hons degree from the University of East Anglia.  I currently teach History of Art for Adult Education and will be devising Art History lessons for the studio.

I have also created a pack of Divination Cards based on colour, a handbook to accompany it and I offer card readings.
